Death came on Christmas Day to Ward Isaac Elwood, 69, well-known resident of the Cassa community until April of this year when the family moved to Torrington. Mr. Elwood succumbed at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gladys Ecker of Riverton, where he and Mrs. Elwood had gone to spend the Christmas holidays. Cause of the death was a sudden heart attack. The body was returned to Wheatland Monday, December 26 via Schrader funeral coach.

A retired rancher the deceased came to the Cassa community in 1919 where he lived until April of this year when he moved with his family to Torrington. He was born June 22, 1886 in Elma, IA.

Left to mourn his passing is his wife Mary Katherine, of Torrington; two sons, Howard w. of Torrington and Ardith L. of Powell; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Ecker of Riverton, Doris Elwood of Seattle, Wash., and Katherine Elwood at home; one brother, Claude K. Elwood of Glendo; two sisters, Mrs. Mag e. Strong of Torrington and Mrs. Mae e Foster of raid City, S.D. and six grandchildren

Services for Mr. Elwood were held this afternoon (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m. from the Schrader chapel, with the Rev. Vern Kruse officiating. Burial was in the Wheatland cemetery. Pallbearers were Ivan Hooley, Dana Spaulding, Bert wright, Homer Trimble, Buck Haggerty and Clarence Bennett.
