Death is not an uncommon event. Every day, it has it's toll on thousands of individuals, regardless of their station in life. Rich or poor, old and young, learned and unlearned, face alike prey to the great reaper called death It is appointed unto men, and his announcement has sent a shudder of fear though the whole human family.

The deceased, Isaac J. Elwood, was the son of Kinsey and Percy Elwood and was born in Maquoketa, Jackson county, Iowa, December 9, 1858, and died near Cassa, Thursday, April 14, 1921.

At the age of seven, with his parents, he moved to Clubon [Clinton] county in the same state. In this county, he received his schooling, remaining there until 1876, when the family removed to Jones County, Iowa, remaining there until 1880. In that year, e and his brother, Frank, came to Wyoming, locating on the Laramie Plains. After a residence of nearly three years, he return to Howard County, Iowa, where two years later, he was united in marriage to Minnie Ostrander. To this union were born five children, two girls and three boys, Ward I., Claud K., Roderick M. Mrs. Red Strong and Mrs. Edwin Foster.

After a residence of eleven years in that country, Mr. Elwood, with his family, moved to Minnesota, where they remained nine years, moving then to Yuma, Colo. where he remained until about two years ago, when he located, with his family in this state. Mr. Elwood will be remembered by all his friends as a most congenial man, upright and reliable in all his business dealings, and also as a dutiful husband, and affectionate father, and a kind and generous brother. His death is a severe trial to his loved ones, and a distinct loss to the community.

Besides those mentioned above, the deceased leaves to mourn his death, five brothers and one sister and seven grandchildren.
