He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Divola Huckabee.
Survived by one son, John P. Bacon Jr., Baton Rouge, one daughter, Mrs. Richard L. Lastrapes, Beaumont, Tex., two sisters, Mrs. Felix Dejean Sr., Washington, La., and Mrs. Perry Smith, Bunkie, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was one of the first students to graduate from USL. He was a retired farmer, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Opelousas.
