Died at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Opelousas General Hospital. He was 86, a native of Duplessis [sic Dubuisson], and a resident of Rt. 2 Bunkie. Body at Lafond and Son Funeral Home in Opelousas. Religious services at the First Baptist Church in Opelousas at 3 p.m. Thursday, conducted by Rev. W. W. Grafton. Interment in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Divola Huckabee.
Survived by one son, John P. Bacon Jr., Baton Rouge, one daughter, Mrs. Richard L. Lastrapes, Beaumont, Tex., two sisters, Mrs. Felix Dejean Sr., Washington, La., and Mrs. Perry Smith, Bunkie, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was one of the first students to graduate from USL. He was a retired farmer, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Opelousas.
