Died Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Opelousas General Hospital at the age of 72. A native of St. Landry Parish, she was a resident of Dubuisson. Religious services were conducted by the Rev. Aswell at the First Baptist church in Opelousas Friday, Feb. 23. Eastern Star graveside services were conducted at Myrtle Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Phillip Bacon Sr.; one son, J. P. Bacon Jr., Baton Rouge; one daughter, Mrs. R. L. Lastrapes, Beaumont; two sisters, Mrs. Manuel Fisher, Baton Rouge, and Mrs. W. R. Ewing, Beaumont; one brother, G. L. Huckaby, Opelousas; three granddaughter[s], Mrs. Lyn Wascom, Leesville; Miss Joan Lastrapes, Beaumont, and Miss Johnnie Bacon, Baton Rouge, and one grandson, Ricky Lastrapes, Beaumont.
She was a member of the Bunkie chapter of Eastern Star.
