"Ophelia Watson, age 86, long-time Coleman resident, died Friday, November 21, 2008 at an Austin nursing home.

"Funeral service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, November 23, 2008 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Stovall officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

"Family visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008 from 6:00 until 7:30pm at Stevens Funeral Home.

"She was born May 1, 1922 in Coleman, Texas, a daughter of Elmer Lee Hughes and Annie Sparkman Hughes. She grew up in Coleman and attended school at Mozelle. On September 3, 1938 she married Winford "Bud" Watson in Coleman. She was a charter member of Concho Baptist Church. She and her husband managed the Tradewinds Motel and the Westerner Motel. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1983. In 1998 she moved to Austin to be near her daughter.

"Survivors include one daughter, Shirley and husband Jerry McKee of Austin; two grandchildren, Chris McKee and Traci Smith; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Mellie Gober of Odessa."
