Lee Frank Hughes
Odessa TX - After a lengthy illness, Frank Hughes, 81, of Odessa went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 9, 2006 at the Hospice House in Odessa. Frank was born August 7, 1924 in Gulbusk, TX., near Coleman, to the late Elmer Lee and Annie Hughes.

He served in the army infantry as a rifleman during World War II in the rainbow division. While proudly serving his country he was wounded in action in Germany in March of 1945. Following his tour of duty he returned to Texas where he attended Texas Tech University. He later went to Drawns Business School and was employed with Abilene Printing Company. While opening a store in Midland TX he met Annie Lee Everett who was to become his life long partner. Frank was a man of many talents and various interests. He dallied in many different fields and was a successful entrepreneur. He owned a bakery, transmission shop, and an auto air conditioning repair service in Odessa. He was a construction superintendent in South Padre Island, a salesman in Miami, Florida, a maintenance supervisor at UTPB, and even managed a hotel in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

He had a great sense of humor and was a storyteller often going into details that lasted several hours. He is greatly loved and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Annie Lee Hughes, sisters, Mellie Gober of Midland and Ophelia Watson of Austin, sons, Gary Ray Hughes and Ronald Lee Hughes & his wife Rexana of Odessa, eight grandchildren, Heather Uhlhorn, Shannon Blau, Bess Aine Kelley, Barbara, Adrian Blue, Candice, John and Allison Hughes, three great-grandchildren, Ashley Uhlhorn, Kinslea Blau, and Bryson Kelley, and several nieces and nephews.

Frank's family would like to invite you to join them in celebration of his life at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Belmont Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryan Saffle officiating.

Pallbearers will be Ray Aleman, Cobie Blau, Ricky Cadena, Blue Hughes, John Hughes, Zackary Proffitt, Brandon Willis, and Timothy Young Jr.

Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Frank's family would like to extend their heart-felt appreciation to Home Hospice and the Hospice House for their compassionate support and care.
