Samuel Grubaugh was born in 1872 to George Riley Grubaugh and Paulina Jane Wallace. He was the 5th of 8 children born to this couple. He spent his early years in Christian County, MO and then in the late 1870s moved to Buck Prairie, Lawrence, MO. He married Ara Anna Grieb on 24 Dec 1890 in Carthage, Jasper, MO. George and Ara had four children:
Edelviss Dora Grubaugh Darby (1892-1975)
Thomas Lawrence Grubaugh (1897-1956)
Gertrude Wilma Grubaugh Atkins (1901-1988)
Joe Jim Grubaugh (1904-1981)

Sam Grubaugh
Sam Grubaugh, 83, of Aurora, MO, died in a local hospital yesterday. He had visited his daughter, Mrs. Cecil Atkins of 2810 Shoreline for the past 12 winters. Grubaugh was a retired building contractor.
Survivors include two sons, Tom of Corpus Christi and Joe of Houston, and two daughters, Mrs. Atkins and Mrs. Ediedviss Darby of Corpus Christi.
The body was sent yesterday to Aurora. where funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday at Bradford-Surridge Funeral Home. Dunne Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
