Charles C. Houch passed away this morning at his home, 316 W. Palm Avenue. Mr. Houch was born in Racine, Wisconsin and had been a resident of Monrovia for the past 19 years. He was employed as a gardener by the city of Monrovia for a period of 12 years, retiring about seven years ago.
He was a member of Prophestown Lodge, No. 293, F&AM, of Prophestown, Illinois, and the First Methodist Church of Monrovia. Mr. and Mrs. Houch would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on February 2 next year.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ada I. Houch; the following children, Mrs. Mae E. Fork of Eureka, California, Raymond C. Houch of Monrovia, Mrs. Irene Bessire of Los Angeles and Carl Houch of Long Beach; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Toppert of Prophestown, Illinois, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Chapel of W. B. Temple. Rev. S. Douglas Walters, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be made in Live Oak Cemetery.
