Son of Henry Christian Gardiner and Alice Louise (Hart) Gardiner. (In reality, his father's real name was unknown to family members. His great-grandson, Lee Pickens, Jr, has stated that the first Henry Gardiner was brought to the United States from Germany by his mother at the age of two years. After arriving here, he was given, or assumed the name of Henry Christian Gardiner.)

Harry Gardiner was married to Amanda (or Aminda) Schweizer at Alma, AR on Oct. 28, 1901. At some point in time, they moved to western Oklahoma, where he became the railroad agent at Hitchcock and Leedey. His wife was the railroad agent at Isabella. Later he became the manager of Gro-Po in Leedy.

To this union were born three children: Harold Amond (born at Isabella, OK), Clifton Hagan (born at Isabella, OK) and Thelma Beatrice (born at Fairview, OK).

At the time of his death at the Veteran's Hospital in Fayetteville, AR, they were living in Westville, OK. Survivors, in addition to his wife, are his children and their spouses and several grandchildren.
