Hazel Joines Fair, 94, East Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at North Side Hospital. Mrs. Fair was a native of Carter County and had lived in Johnson City since 1939. She was a daughter of the late John C. and Edna Cheeks Joines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Chase Fair, in 1976, and by three sisters, four brothers and a granddaughter.
Mrs. Fair was a retired supervisor with North American Rayon Corporation and a former co-owner in the Fair Grocery in Johnson City. She was a charter member of East Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church, where she had served as a
teacher in the Young Adult Sunday School Class and worked in the United Methodist Women's group.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence R. and Janey Fair, Radcliff, Ky.; a grandson, Donald A. Fair, Radcliff, Ky.; a great-grandson, Stefan R. Mitchell, Radcliff, Ky.; and a special niece, Fran Taylor Garst, Johnson City. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service Mrs. Fair will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel with Mrs. Fair's pastor, Rev. Lon Tobin, officiating. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, in the Garden of the Word at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday. Honorary pallbearers will be
members of the East Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.
