He taught in rural schools in Stoddard County for 14 years and was a retired probation and parole officer from Wisconsin. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bloomfield, Kennedy Hanks American Legion Post of Dexter and Bloomfield Masonic Lodge 153 and a Navy veteran of World War II. On May 4, 1946 at St.Louis, he married Marion B Bradley, who survives. Also surviving are: one son Robert H Acord; one daughter, Mrs. Delbert (Majorie) Broker; four brothers, Theodore Acord, Howard Acord, Oscar Acord and Burgess Acord; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Tricy) Bewick and Mrs John (Louise) Aslin; and five granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home at Bloomfield. Services were conducted at the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield with the Rev. Roger Foster, pastor, officiating.
Burial followed in Walker Cem., near Bloomfield.
