Final rites were held Monday from the home of Louis W Rickert of Indian Orchard, Honesdale, RD 4, who died unexpecedly Friday afternoon following a heart attack suffered upon after returning home from a trip to school for his grandchildren. A requium high mass was offered at 10am by the Reverend Linius Fricker, pastor at St. Mary Magdalen Church. Interment was in the parish cemetery with the Reverend Andrew Marcinko offering the graveside service. Casket bearers were Vicent Herzog, Reginald Dean, Ronald and John Gumpper, Francis and Raymond LaTournous.

Mr. Rickert, a son of the late Anthony and Mary Smith Rickert, was born at Indian Orchard. As a boy he learned the cut glass trade at Dorflinger's Glass Factory, White Mills. After his retirement from driving a school bus for the Honesdale Union School district after 25 years of service, he established Rickert's Cut Glass Shop at the family homestead. There he produced quality cut glass and enjoyed displaying his product and art to visitors.

Mr Rickert was a communicant of St. Mary Magdalen Church and a member of its Holy Name Society.

Surviving are his wife, the former Miss. Margaret Dean with whom he would have celebrated his 48th wedding anniversary in November. Also surviving are three daughters, Helen wife of Henry Gumpper and Mary wife of Bernard Austin, both of Honedale RD 4, and Marguerite wife of Robert Dorman of Endicott, NY; three sons, Joseph and Bernard, both of Honesdale, Louis A. of San Fernando Valley, Calif; Three sisters Mrs. Rose Herzog and Mrs. Tracy Bishop of Honesdale, and Mrs. Charles La'Tournous of White Mills; 20 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were by the Franklin Myers Funeral Home, Honesdale.
