Phyllis Eldora Clifton was born in Little Grant Township, Grant County, WI on December 29, 1925, the daughter of Reuben and Mabel (Cliff) Clifton. As a young girl she attended Pleasant Ridge School west of Lancaster and later British School in Platteville Township. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1943, then attended Platteville State Teachers College. On September 9, 1944 she married her childhood sweetheart, Milton Robert Rewey, in the Platteville Methodist Church.

In her youth she was active in 4H, where she won many awards, band, Home Ec. Club, Pep Club, Girls Athletic Association, Tri-Hi-Y and Methodist Church activities.

After her marriage she was the main support for her husband and growing family. Phyllis even washed the Poynette High School football uniforms after every game. She moved with Milton's education career to Benton, Poynette, Ripon, Racine, St. Francis, Waupun and then back to Platteville. Many friends were made. After Milton's retirement they moved to Englewood, Florida and then Port Charlotte before returning to their Platteville roots in 2007. In every town Phyllis was very active with the Methodist Church. She was an excellent bridge player. Her love of travel extended across the U.S, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, the Americas, Australia, Asia and Europe. She endowed that love of travel to her children and grandchildren. Her greatest love was being with her family.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Milton of Platteville; four children, Michael (Pamela) of Madison; Peggy (Steven) Wedige of Englewood, FL; Patty (Thomas) Martin of Bedford, NH; and Curtis of Orlando, FL; 11 grandchildren, Wade (Gemini English-Rewey) Rewey, Brianna (Torsie) Judkins, Nathaniel (Betty Agudelo-Rewey) Rewey, Rachel (Scott) Gunnells, Heather (Timothy) Rewey-Conway, Heidi (Brian) Pietz, Marne (John) Schroeder, Renee McHugh, Kyle Wedige, Matthew Martin and Jason Martin; and 13 great-grandchildren.
