NOTICE: Many and various records, documents and newspaper articles differ greatly on her birth year and the number of children she had.
I strive for accuracy and use sources that I hope are reliable for the data and information below. I have used her birth year of 1819 based on this quote by Sarah directly, below , also see newspaper article atttached from Cincinnati Enquirer, July 16, 1887. She also indicates she was age 16 when married Charles Brandon in 1835.)
IMPORTANT:
The Xenia Journal, 1887 Indiana newspaper article quotes her on her marriage to Charles Brandon: "The second wife died about 1830, and 1835, at the age of sixteen, I was married to Mr. Brandon. My maiden name was Sarah Barker. My father, Elijah Barker, removed from Eastern Maryland to the Ohio Valley about 1810. There were sixteen children in the family, I being the youngest. I was born on Pipe Creek (a.), October 12, 1819. I lived with my husband twenty-one year, when I obtained a divorce. The same year he died."
According to descendents, he actually died January 6, 1866.

SARAH BARKER was born to Elijah Barker and Tabitha Piatt/Pyatt. She is reportedly the youngest of 16 children.

Ohio marriage record to Charles Brandon, September 27, 1835, Belmont County. Some articles indicate they had 15 children.

Some of the children who Charles and Sarah shared were Easter/Hester Ann (1837 - ? Brooks) , Peter (1840-1862 Civil War), John (b Mar 11 1842-1864 Civil War), Charles (1843-1904), Evan/Ivan (1844-1919), Andrew/Andy * (b Sept 15,1848-), Abraham, James Reese (1850-bef 1910), David (1855-1919), and William (1857-1876).

(Some other names of their children might be Thomas, Frederick and Martin or Van Buren).

(Also note Sarah's age given as 30 in 1850:)
The family appears in York, Belmont, Ohio on the 1850 census, Charles listed as age 67, Sarah 30 with children Hiram Easterann, Peter, John, Charles, Evan, Andrew and Martin.

Although Charles and Sarah 's divorce was applied for in August 1855 and they were legally divorced in Spring term of 1856, a son Alexander was born from this union according to family descendents.

On the 1860 census, Sarah is residing in (Armstrong Mills) Washington Twp, Belmont OH with sons Abram, David and William T.

Ohio marriage record William 'Swaney' to Mrs. Sarah Brandon, April 2, 1863, Belmont, OH. (He was first married to Mary Baker in 1834, Belmont.)

Sarah can be found with William on the 1870 census, Mead, Belmont, OH, however her Brandon children are listed with surname of "Sweney". There is a new son, Alexander, b 1861, however he later uses name Brandon also. If Charles died in 1866 as descendents indicate, then Alexander could be his son.

On the 1910 census, Sarah is residing with her married son Evan and family, Moundsville, Marshall County, WV. Census indicates she is a pensioner and had 15 children, 12 living. Residing a few households away are her grandsons William, John M and Evan Jr families.

(Collected information on Charles Brandon: He was born in England about 1761 and came to the U.S. when abt 3 years old. Married first Mary Meyers, in Pennsylvania, with whom he had two daughters, Josephine and Elizabeth. Widowed, he then he married Frances 'Fanny' Slusser/Schlosser, in Washington Twp, Penna., with whom he had 18 or more children. She died between 1830 and 1835, See memorial 76496192, for Suffrona Brandon who died in 1833, thought to be Frances/Fronny)

Third marriage was to Sarah Barker with whom he had 15 more children. These numbers may not be correct, unsourced. Charles and Sarah were divorced in 1856, however according to descendents, he died January 6, 1866.)

Sarah's death certificate indicates burial location is Jacobsburg, Ohio. Her burial has been confirmed by descendents to be Jacobsburg Cemetery. An obituary in Cleveland Plain Dealer, Nov 22 1914, seems to indicate she was buried at St. Clairsville, OH with no specific cemetery name given. Her age given on death certificate as 116 born in 1798 is contradictory to other information gathered that her birth year is 1819. There is supposed to be a marker placed there by family.
