Death Claims Mrs. T.Q. Shump
Word of the death of Mrs. Theodore Shump of Sciotoville at the good Samaritin Hospital in Cincinnati Sunday morning at 6:14 o'clock came as a cruel shock to her legion of friends.

Mrs. Shump left here over a week ago and a ( unreadable text ) to that city is thought to have developed pneumonia. Several days ago her condition was such that loved ones at her bedside were hopeful that she would make a successful fight, but on Saturday her condition had changed and she declined rapidly.

She was born at Sciotoville August 30, 1861, her parents being Van B. Farney and Minerva Corriell Farney.

She was married June 5, 1880 to Mr. Theodore Q. Shump at the M.E. church in Sciotoville. To this union was born Winnifred, widow of William M. Bennett, and Florence, wife of Dr. J. W Hutchens, who with her bereaved husband survive her. She also leaves to mourn her death two grandchildren,, Richard G. Bennett and Howard Hutchens and two brothers, William L. Farney and Ira C. Farney.

She was a woman of the Christian character and was a constant and faithful attendant at the Second Presbyterian church. She was also an active member of the W.C.T.U. and an ardent exponent of its principles.

She was connected with the Women's City Club, and the Women's Literary Club and the home league, where her pleasing personality and cultured mind were universally recognized,

She was an inspiration and Christian example in her membership in Mrs. Isabella Thomas' Bible Class of the Second Presbyterian church.

Her charitable work in the community was large and unostentatious and
many have reason to rise up and call her blessed.

It is in the home life where she will be most sadly missed Here was where her heart expended its truest and most loving service. Here she reigned supreme and was recognozed as a true wife and a devoted and loving mother, making her home the most desirable and happiest place for her loved ones.

The funeral service will be held at the home in Sciotoville Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Phelps officiating after which the body will be taken to Daehler Funeral home and placed in a crypt until the family mausoleum can be completed.

Friends unable to attend the service at the home may have the privilege of viewing the body at the funeral home after the services.
