José was born in Pintada, NM on May 14, 1911 to the home of José Alcario and Faustina García Martínez.
José was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ignacita Rita Martínez, his sisters, Rose M. and her husband, Claudio Nelson, Sabinita González and her husband, Joe T.González, Frances Campos and her husband, Joaquin Campos, brothers, Napoleon Martínez and Faustin Martínez, also a special brother-in-law, Gilbert Wallace, sister-in-laws, Margie Martinez and Annie Martínez.
José is survived by his sister, Amelia Wallace of Albuquerque, NM, brothers, Rudy Martínez of Pintada, NM, Joe A. Martínez and his wife, Stella of Santa Rosa, NM, sisters-in-law, Tillie Martínez of Santa Rosa , NM and Thelma Martínez of Albuquerque, NM.
José was a Veteran of World War II having served in the Aleutians Islands and the European Theater from 1942 through 1946.
José was a lifelong rancher and enjoyed the work of raising cattle and sheep. Jose was very fond of all his friends and neighbors and enjoyed sharing their company during brandings and cattle shipping get togethers.
Rosary services will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Santa Rosa, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 11, 2005 at 10:00 a.m., also at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at the San José Cemetery. Santa Rosa, NM. Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Martínez, Arthur Campos, Gilbert Campos, Rudy Martínez Jr., Eric Wallace and Andre Martínez. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Blas Hohne, Chris Sisneros, Robert Sáiz, Manuel Martínez, Louie Martínez, Larry Nelson, Johnny Martínez and Hector Martínez.
