Betty was my cousins' grandma but I grew up calling her Grandma Ignatz. She was always a quiet, sweet, kind lady.


Betty married William Michael Ignatz on 6 May 1944 in Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio and they had two children.


Obituary: Elizabeth "Betty" Ignatz (nee Toth), 84, of Elyria, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at EMH Regional Medical Center. She was born March 22, 1925 in Berryburg, WV, moving to Elyria in 1942. She was employed for 22 years in the cafeteria at Elyria High School, from where she retired. She was a member of Magyar United Church of Christ and had been an officer in the Dorcas Guild where she was active cooking Hungarian food for church events. She was a former president of Roosevelt School PTA and a Brownie Troop Leader. Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years, daughter, son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sophie Toth; brother Albert Toth, and sister Bertha Vargo. (from the Elyria Chronicle Telegram)
