Mrs. Ruth M. Thayer, 59, of Route 1, Welch Road, died Thursday at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital following an extended illness.
Born August 27, 1909 in Ithaca, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Shellenberger.
December 08, 1923 she was married to Clifford Thayer who died August 14, 1967. She had been a resident of Ionia the past 22 years.
Surviving are four(4) Daughters, Mrs. Minnie Jeffery of Ionia, Mrs. Marie Devers of Pewamo, Norma Thayer of Orleans and Rosella Thayer of Sheridan; four(4) Sons, Clifford, Jr., and Robert Thayer both of Ionia and Henry and LaVern Thayer both of Lyons; 19 Grandchildren and two(2) Great-Grandchildren.
She also leaves one(1) Sister, Dorothy Butler of Mason; one(1) Brother, Leslie Shellenberger of Benton Harbor and two(2) Half-Brothers, Frank and Elijah Ward of Ionia; one(1) Half-Sister, Mrs. Minnie Bessette of Mason; and a Step-Sister, Mrs. Frieda Nemi of Fenwick.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
