To my son Joel Wells I give the middle part of my land of two hundred and eight acres including my mansion house.

Source - Will of Matthew Wells dated April 8, 1828.

The mansion house was in the vicinity of present day Mapleton Drive, not far from Franklin Turnpike and about 30 miles Northwest of Danville in Pittsylvania County, VA.

Married Sarah Elizabeth E M Tarpley on June 8, 1825 in Pittsylvania County, VA.
