Ellan Jeanne was born November 25, 1940 in Tremonton, the fifth child of Alden Swapp Adams and Violet LaRue Larson (both deceased). She graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City and earned a bachelor's in elementary education from the University of Utah.
She married Thomas G. Pike on June 17, 1963 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of six children.
An educator by profession, Ellan Jeanne took time to create teaching moments for her children and grandchildren, as well as her school classes and vocal students. She expressed her grateful heart through many acts of kindness. She served faithfully in many church callings, and sang with Tom at innumerable weddings, funerals, and concerts.
Mom is an elect lady who met every challenge with dignity, grace, and a valiant testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Always the optimist, she smiled and called herself blessed down to the final hour. We are blessed to love her.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; six children, Jon (Kristy), St. George; Rick (Suzanne), Ephraim; Steve (Carrie), Salt Lake City; Dave, Salt Lake City; Liz Murdock (Rick), Provo; and Emily Parry (Ken), Salt Lake City; twelve grandchildren (two more on the way); three brothers, Reed Adams (Tommye Lou), Kaysville; Don Adams (Janet), Kaysville; and Ray Adams (Judy), Columbia, South Carolina; and one sister, Joyce Adams Winters (Burton), Kaysville.
The family expresses gratitude to Dr. William Reiley, nurse Kara Mickelsen, the many other medical professionals on the eighth floor of LDS Hospital, the IHC Infusion Center, Salt Lake Clinic, and the angels among us — our friends and neighbors throughout Salt Lake City and Utah.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. in the East Millcreek Stake Center, 3103 East Craig Drive (3640 South), Millcreek. Friends may visit with the family prior to the services from 10:30-11:30 a.m. A viewing will also be held on Monday, August 16, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City.
