Beulah Mae Burke Smith Posey, 66, of Winfield, passed away April 17, 2006, at the family home following a brief illness. Born November 17, 1939, she was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Wilda Phillips Burke; the father of her children, Rev. Sherman Smith; and her husband, Leon Posey. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She is survived by four daughters: Judy K. Duncan and husband, Joe, of Oneida, Shonda Mayfield and husband, Joseph, of Knoxville, and Carolyn Sue Trammell and husband, Darrell, and Pam King and husband, Charles, all of Winfield; one son, Mitchell Smith and wife, Sandy, of Winfield; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Eula Faye Blevins and husband, Wayne, of Nashville; two brothers, Luther Burke and wife, Melba, of Oneida, and Tim Burke of Winfield; and many other relatives. The family was to receive friends Wednesday, April 19, from 6 p.m. until time of funeral service at 8 p.m., in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Campbell officiating. Grandson Travis Trammell was to have read the obituary. Music was provided by Sherburne Martin and Kuruka Martin.
