Richard was the 9th child of Jacob Delong and his 2nd wife (name unknown). He was born Nov 17, 1817 in Brookville Twp., Franklin Co., IN.

Richard had migrated to Marion Co., IN, by 1836 and he married Nancy Ann Parrish on May 31, 1840.

Richard & Nancy lived at Traders Point near Indianapolis. They purchased for $130, land in Marion Co., IN, described as the west half of the southwest quarter of section 26 in township 17, north of range 2, east on Jan 30, 1836 from Aaron S. & Margaret Glidewell. This land they sold on April 3, 1852 to Wm Kitchen for $1000.

In 1853, along with their children Luiza, Eliza Ann, Emily, Austin and Anthony came to Clay township, Jones County, Iowa. A daughter Delilah and twins, Isaac and Nelson probably died in Indiana. Their daughter Eleanor was born in Iowa, and son Franklin was born in Holt County, Missouri.

By 1858, they made their home in Salem, Richardson County, Nebraska, where children Nancy Ann, Pleasant, Milton, Rose Ann, George, and Cynthia Annabel were born.

Richard Milton took part in the location of the County seat of Richardson County. He was one of the Judges or Clerks of the first, second, third, and fourth elections from Salem #2 Precinct. He was a farmer and owned land in Richardson County.

They sold their property in Richardson Co., NE in 1861 and they apparently went to Madison Co., IA where he died. Of their large family, one son was in Holt Co., MO in 1870, another in MO that year and specifically Holt Co. in 1880. A dau. trad. lived Pratt Co., Kansas and another son beginning in 1885 lived in Kansas, then Nebr., then Ohio, then Pratt Co., Kansas.

3. AUSTIN b. Marion Co., IN, May 5, 1846. Went west in 1850's; md. Ann (Scott) McMahon in 1866.

4. ANTHONY b. Marion Co., IN, Mar 11, 1848; md. Rhuhama O'Dell.

5. LOUISA b. Marion Co., IN, Sep 29, 1849, 1 in 1850 as LUCY, 7 in 1856 name hard to read, 10 in 1860 as LOUISA. She married William Shaklee abt. 1865. After Wm's death abt. 1907, she married 2nd W. F. Alexander on Jul 11, 1912 in Indianola, Warren Co., IA.

6. DELILAH b. Apr 16, 1851, prob. in IN; d. Apr 29, 1851.

7. ISAAC b. Mar 30, 1852, prob. in IN; d. Jul 31, 1852. A twin.

8. NELSON b. Mar 30, 1852, prob. in IN; d. Jan 28, 1856. A twin.

9. ELEANOR b. Iowa, Apr 4, 1854, 2 in 1856 as Elenzer, 6 in 1860. As Ellen trad. md. ____ Baine and res. Pratt Co., KS.

10. FRANKLIN SYLVESTER b. MO, Sep 18, 1856. It is not known whether his parents settled there briefly, or whether he was born on the trek to Nebraska. He married Lucie A. ____.

11. NANCY ANN b. Salem, Richardson Co., NE, Jan 14, 1858, 2 in 1860; d. Apr 1861.

12. PLEASANT MILTON b. Salem, Richardson Co., NE, Aug 19, 1859, 9 mo. in 1860; d. 1932.

15. CYNTHIA ANNABEL "Anna" b. IA, Dec 1, 1862. Her parents did sell their Neb. land 1861, so perhaps they did go to Iowa. Could one or both parents have died near this time? Ann in Warren Co., Iowa 1870 age 7 with sister Louisa & Wm Shaklee. Anna married Frank Wagner (or Waggoner) in 1878 & James P. Pollard abt. 1889.
