Mrs. Mary Loraine Black passed away at her home at Cherry Grove, Clay Township, Huntingdon County, on Wednesday morning, November 5, 1941, at 8:25 o'clock. Death was due to pneumonia.
A daughter of James and Sarah (Taylor) McNeil, she was born in Clay Township on March 15, 1860. At the time of death, she was aged 81 years, seven months, and twenty days. She was united in marriage with Henry Clay Black, who preceded her in death in 1926. To this union were born five children, namely: Wilday, Harvey, Scott, Berlyn, Dessler and Elsie, of Three Springs, R.D.; Herbert, of Broad Top City, and Irvin, of Huntingdon. One daughter, Verna Belle, died in infancy.
Mrs. Black had spent her entire life in Clay Township. She was a devoted mother and four of her sons served their country in the World War.
Funeral services were held at the Cherry Grove Church of God on Friday afternoon, November 7, at 2 o'clock, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Miller, pastor of that church. Internment was made in the Cherry Grove cemetery, directed by Green's funeral service.
