Allford Morgan, age 74, of Laurens, S.C., formerly of Rockmart, died Friday, April 10, in Laurens. Born in Polk County on September 30, 1912, Mr. Morgan was the son of the late Julius and Annie Head Morgan. He was a retired plumber and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sunie Pruitt Morgan. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Glenda Peterson, of Laurens, S.C.; two brothers, Willis Morgan of Rockmart and Homer Morgan of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Miss Dora Morgan and Miss Evelyn Morgan, of Rockmart and Mrs. Alice Jackson of Yaterville; one granddaughter, Miss Pamela Peterson, Laurens, S.C. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 12, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home. The Rev. David Taylor officiated. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery. The following nephews served as pallbearers: Barry Morgan, Ralph Morgan, Jr., W.D. Morgan, Bill Jackson, Bill Jackson, Jr. and Paul Morgan. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (The Rockmart Journal, April 15, 1987)
