George Mattison McCain was the second son born to Nancy Aveline Iles McCain Compton and George Pemberton McCain on Dec. 19, 1867. His older brother was William Frankin McCain and younger brother, John Walter McCain. The McCain brothers had one sister, Martha Elizabeth McCain(1854-1863), who died at about ten years of age. This was recorded in the McCain Family Bible, passed down to John Walter McCain's daughters. Their mother Nancy Aveline lost her first husband in 1860, had John after the death of his father 1861, and lost her only daughter at that time in 1863. George Mattison "Matt" never married, and my grandmother stated Matt was buried in this plot with his mother and his brother. Matt helped run the McCain Farm.
