Son of Joel Hills Johnson and Anna Pixley. He came to Utah in 1848 and was called to settle the Virgin City. He took charge of affairs from April 1894 to June 1895 and was after ordained a Bishop. Sixtus made settlements in the upper Virgin Valley in 1859 and was Bishop of the Chuichupa Ward, Juarez (Mormon) Stake, Mexico from 1894 to 1895.
