Marianna "Bootie" McGreevy, 87, of Dunedin, Florida, formerly of Barton, Maryland died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Meese Countryside Hospital in Dunedin. She was born at home during a beautiful Western Maryland snowstorm on January 20, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Lloyd "Kenny" Logsdon and Mary "Mae" Connolly Barry Logsdon. Bootie received her lifelong moniker at birth when her three-year-old sister tried to say "Isn't she a beauty," and what came out was, "Isn't she a Bootie." She carried this name with her the rest of her days. The celebration of Bootie's life will be held in both Florida and Maryland at later dates and she will be interred with her loving husband, Harold, at the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery at Rocky Gap in Flintstone, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. McGreevy, December 31, 1995 and by her brothers, John "Jack" Logsdon and Kenny Logsdon, and her sisters, Rita Hartley, Eleanor Sheally, Patricia "Patsy" Keyes and Monica Mason. She was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by her five children: Jeannie, Altoona, Pennsylvania; Mike, Wilmington, North Carolina; Pat and wife Lynne, of Keyser, West Virginia; Shawn and husband, Tobin Geatz, Wilmington, North Carolina; and Mark, of Dunedin, Florida. The family would like to express special gratitude to Mark, who was Mom's devoted, loving, care-giver and friend these last years of her life. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Terry and Jason Zais, Michael, Katrina, Ryan and Lindsey McGreevy; and five great-grandchildren. Bootie's favorite things were music and singing. And sing she did! From our fond childhood memories of Dad and Mom harmonizing around the campfire to singing while we slept in the back seat of the car or entertaining the crowd with her barbershop quartet , she never missed a chance to grab the microphone. In her later years, she referred to herself as "a tough ole' bird" and she proved it right up until the very end, singing, reminiscing of fond times and how lucky she was to have been Bootie! While our hearts are full of sadness we know you are at peace. Sing sweetly dear mother, wife and friend. May flights of angels carry thee to thy rest.
