Ms. Clorine Bittle, 91, died March 11, 2009.


Funeral services were March 16 at 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church, Chesterfield. Burial was held in Chesterfield Community Cemetery, Chesterfield.


Ms. Clorine "Pears" Bittle, daughter of the late George Bittle and Martha Ann Teal Bittle was born on Aug. 9, 1917. Clorine attended the Chesterfield County public school system. During her vibrant years she enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was converted at an early age and joined Salem Baptist Church, Chesterfield. She help co-organized the first junior choir at Salem. She also served on the Salem Usher Board until her health began to decline.

She was preceded in death by six sisters and a brother.


Surviving are two daughters, Ruth E. Bittle of Chesterfield and Dora L. Gillespie of Cheraw; four grandsons, Frederick C. Bittle (Carolyn) of Fayetteville N.C., Anthony B. Gillespie of Cheraw, Timothy K. Bittle of Chesterfield and Jefferey E. Gillespie of Cheraw; four great grandchildren, Tawanda Stanley of Orangeburg, Angela Hill, Sherika Smith and Mia Gillespie all of Cheraw; four great-great-grandchildren, Jada Hill Jonathan Hutley, Journey Smith, and Jordyn Hutley; and other relatives and friends Flemming Funeral Home-Chesterfield was in charge.
