Lutie Darby Culp, age 95, died in the Methodist Manor House on Friday, May 18, 2012 with family at her side.

Born and raised in Poolesville, Maryland, she was the daughter of Joseph Newton Darby and Mary Chiswell Darby.

She was married for 69 years to Clyde E. Culp, Jr. who passed away June 10, 2010.

Lutie is survived by her children; a son, Clyde E. Culp III and wife MaryEllen; a daughter Cynthia Heflin and husband Don; six grandchildren: Kelly Lovett, Suzanne Harrison, Darby Culp, Matthew Fad, Regan Fad and Rebecca McElwee. She is also survived by six great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Lutie was a graduate of Poolesville, MD high school and Strayer Business College in Washington D.C. She worked for American Cyanamid Co. in Washington until she and her husband moved to Blue Point, NY. There she spent 23 years raising her children and being active in many civic and charitable organizations. Lutie and Clyde retired to New Bern, NC in 1979 where she volunteered in the Community soup kitchen and was active in the First Presbyterian church. In 1999 they moved to the Methodist Manor House in Seaford, DE.

A memorial service will be held at the Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Rd, Seaford on Saturday, June 2nd at 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to the Methodist Manor House Benevolence Fund, 1001 Middleford Rd, Seaford, DE 19973.Arrangements by the Cranston Funeral Home, Seaford, DE.
