Mendon, Utah— Hazel Sorensen Buist, 67 Mendon, died November 8th, 1983, at Logan Regional Hospital. She was born July 14th, 1916, in Mendon, a daughter of Joseph C. and Alice Ladle Sorensen. She married Earl A. Buist January 28th, 1942, in the Logan Latter-day Saint temple. He died December 27th, 1967. She was an active member of the Latter-day Saint church, having served in Primary, M.I.A., ward choir, Sunday School and Relief Society. She was active in P.T.A., and was a 4-H leader. She worked for the Selective Service Commission during World War II. She worked for Logan Hospital, Everton Publishers and was deputy treasurer for Cache County. Her interests were cooking, sewing and gardening. Surviving are one daughter and three sons, Mrs. Glenna Markey and David L. Buist, both of Mendon; Vaughan E. Buist and Vern Buist, both of Logan; five grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Dr. Edgar L. Sorensen, Manhattan, Kansas; Owen Sorensen, Eldon Sorensen and Veda Sorensen, all of Mendon. Funeral services will be held Saturday at two p.m. in the Mendon Ward chapel with Dennis Kidman conducting. Friends may call at Hall Mortuary Friday from seven to nine p.m. and at the ward Saturday, one hour prior to services.
