Earl Amenzo Buist of Mendon Dies— Earl A. Buist, 63 died early this morning at his home following a long illness. He was born December 28th, 1904, in Border, Bear Lake County, Idaho, to David Elder and Hannah Maria Buist. He attended school in Mendon and graduated from South Cache High School He fulfilled a mission for the L.D.S. Church from November 1935 to January 1938 in the North Central States. For nine months of that time he was district president. After his return he was superintendent of the Mendon Ward Y.M.M.I.A. for five years and superintendent of the Mendon Sunday school for eight years. He served his community as a city councilman and justice of the peace. He took part in many dramas and dances and sang on numerous programs and at many funerals. He married Hazel Sorensen, daughter of Joseph C. and Alice Ladle Sorensen on January 28th, 1942 in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. Surviving are his widow and four children, a daughter Glenna Buist Markey and three sons, David Lynn, Vaughn Earl and Vern Evan Buist, all of Mendon. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters, Annie, Fern and Glenn Buist, and Mrs. Fred (Melba) Taylor, all of Mendon. Funeral services will be held Saturday at one p.m. in the Mendon Ward Chapel under the direction of Bishop Zeno Andersen. Friends may call at Hall Mortuary Friday from seven to nine p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services at Mendon Ward Chapel.
