Enoch was born around 1846 in Hancock County Tennessee, the son of John Bolen and Louisa Gibson. They migrated from Hancock Tenn, it's believed in the early 1850's. John Bolen was a son of Michael Bolen, a veteran of the War of 1812, who was 97 in the Floyd Co. 1870 Census. Enoch was married first to Jane Miser in Hancock County; they had at least seven children: Amanda, Tivis, Monroe, Arlin, Columbus, Elizabeth, and Dora Ellen Bolen.
Jane died and was buried on Rock Fork in Knott County. Enoch married second to Ellen Wallen on March 17, 1904 at Lackey, Floyd County Kentucky. He died on June 29, 1911 and was buried next to Jane in Rock Fork.
