She was the daughter of Enoch and Jane (Miser) Bolen. She married Alfred Hicks in 1902. Their children were Elbert Hicks, Lawrence Hicks, Mitchell Hicks, Irvin Hicks, John M Hicks, Millie (Hicks) Dudley, Millard "Peachy" Hicks, Bert Hicks, Polly (Hicks) Hayes, Orville Hicks, Arnold L. Hicks and Myles Hicks. Obituary in the Floyd County Times Friday, Oct. 16th, 1936 issue. MRS. ALFRED HICKS CLAIMED BY DEATH- Mrs. Alfred Hicks, 50, died at the Beaver Valley hospital at Martin Wednesday, October 7th, a victim of blood poisoning. Mrs. Alfred Hicks is survived by her husband and nine children. Three other children preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 10th, at the Baptist Church near Garrett, with the Rev. Malcolm Wright, Andy Moore and Marion Chafins in charge. Burial was made in the church cemetery under the direction of E.P. Arnold.
