ELGIN — A funeral service for Mrs. Estelle Medlin Dinkins Walker, 85, of Elgin, will be held 3:30 o'clock, Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with Bishop Arizona DeVane and The Rev. Ed Tager officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Valley (Holly Hill) Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, 109 Roseberry Road, Pontiac. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Friday evening at Shives Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Elgin Church of God, 1150 Sessions Road, PO Box 526, Elgin, SC 29045.

Mrs. Walker died July 15, 2009. Born in Columbia, on April 21, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Thurmond and Laura Coleman Medlin. During her working years, Estelle was a certified nurse assistant with Providence Hospital. She was a member of the Elgin Church of God, enjoyed gardening and visiting with family.

Survivors include her daughters, Judy Hinson and husband, Eugene, of Elgin, Beatrice Kimble of Gaston; sons, Pete Dinkins and wife, Karen, of Elgin, Ronnie Dinkins of Northeast Columbia; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Ezelle "Boots" Medlin of Columbia; sister, Naomi Martin of Elgin; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Estelle was preceded in death by a son, Donald "Dinky" Dinkins; brothers, "Buddy," Harvey, and "Buster" Medlin; sisters, Myrtis Brown, Christine Wilson and Ophelia Medlin.
