In the words of William Jesse Robertson, Mary's brother, written c1954: "Mary Elizabeth Robertson after finishing school at Le Roy, became a graduate nurse at the Bethsada Hospital in Cinncinati, Ohio. While there she met John Hamilton who was a trouble shooter for the J.I. Case Emplement Co. This work was one of almost constant travel. They were married December the 23rd, 1919. In recent years he has put his interest in machinery, and his mechanical ability into service as a maintenance man at Western College at Oxford, Ohio, near College Corner."

After retirement, Mary and John moved to California to be closer to her sisters in the Red Bluff area.
