Traverse City Record-Eagle, January 5, 1946:
Mrs. Blanche Barnum Coolidge, wife of the Rev. John K. Coolidge, former pastor of Grace Episcopal Church here, died at Munson hospital Friday noon. Mrs. Coolidge was a prominent resident of the city for many years in her earlier life and was one of the community's outstanding violinists. More recently her home has been in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where her husband has been rector of the All Saints Church.
Born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on May 21, 1884 (sic 1883), Mrs. Coolidge came to this city with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Barnum, when a young girl. She graduated from high school here and then studied violin at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and followed this with study in Berlin,
Germany. In 1914, she married the Rev. Mr. Coolidge in Colfax, Calif., and after residing in Burlingame, Calif., three years the family later moved to this city where Mr. Coolidge became rector of Grace Episcopal Church. Surviving are the husband, a daughter Susan with the Red Cross at Great Lakes Naval Training Station, two sons; Barnum of Birmingham, Michigan and John K. Coolidge, Jr. also of Birmingham, two grandchildren, Christine and John K. Coolidge II, and a sister, Mrs. F.P. Lawton of this city. Another sister, Mrs. G.W. Power of this city died in 1941. Burial will be made in Oakwood Cemetery.
