C. N. HODGDON DROPS DEAD
While at His Lumber Camp in the Woods

The entire community was saddened last Saturday afternoon to learn of the sudden death of Charles N. Hodgdon caused by heart failure. Mr. Hodgdon was at the time of his death at his camp in the woods between here and Gorham supervising the work of his men as had been his usual enstom this winter. He left home early in the afternoon in his usual good health and his death coming as suddenly as it did was a severe shock to his family. Mr. Hodgdon was 74 years of age and was born on what is known as Hodgdon Hill between here and West Milan. He started in the coal and wood business in this city almost 22 years ago and had always taken an active park in it, even in the last few years of his life. His father was one of the first settlers in this section coming here when it was nearly all wilderness. Mr. Hodgdon was highly respected by all his associates and will be greatly missed in the community. He is survived by his widow and two sons Wilfred A. formerly of the firm of John Goebel and Co. and Henry N. who was associated with his father in the coal and wood business and two daughters Mrs. Flora Tucker and Mrs. Herman E. Miles all of whom reside in this city. He is also survived by one brother S. F. Hodgdon of West Milan. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Universalist Church, Rev. Isabella MacDuff of West Paris officiating and the body was taken to the family lot in West Milan for burial.
