Mrs. Amelia Henke Dies at North Platte Hospital After Months of Ill Health -- Entered Hospital for Treatment Week Before; Death Attributed to Pulmonary Asthma -- Interment Made at Scotia

Mrs. Amelia Henke passed away at the Platte Valley Hospital in North Platte last Friday morning where she had gone for treatment more than a week before. She had been in ill health for the past few years, and had failed rapidly during the last several weeks. Death was attributed to pulmonary asthma.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church in North Platte on Sunday at 2:30 o'clock. Neighbors of the deceased were pall-bearers, namely: Ralph Merritt, Wm. Dolan, Raleigh Reynolds, M. V. Ambler, S.L. Coleman and John Layher.

The remains were taken overland to the old home in Greeley county, where services were again conducted on Monday afternoon. Interment was made at the Scotia cemetery by the body of her husband who departed this life on Dec. 5, 1928.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Moore and and Glen Simpson, son-in-law, daughter and granddaughter of the deceased, accompanied the remains to Scotia. Joining three former neighbors of the Henke family in Greeley county, Ralph Merritt, Wm.Dolan and Chas. Kramer served as pall-bearers, as requested by Mrs. Henke. The same pall-bearers had assisted at the funeral of Mr. Henke.

Mrs. Henke is survived by three daughters, two sons and a number of grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Anna Simpson preceded her mother in death.

OBITUARY
Amelia Henke Combs (Mrs. Amelia Henke) was the oldest of twelve children born to Samuel Combs and Sarah Armstrong Combs at Allendale, Mo. on June 12, 1864. Of her brothers and sisters, all survive. Until she was 21, she lived at her birthplace, later removing with her family to Bartlett. There she became acquainted with Amos Henke, whom she married at Scotia on July 2, 1888.

The Henkes first made their home near Bartlett, later living at Wolbach, Wayland, Mich., and Greeley. In 1922 they came to Stapleton where they have lived since. Six children were born to their union, of whom five are living. They are: Mrs. Sadie Vroman of Racine, Wis.; Frank Henke of Scotia; Mrs. Dot Fales of Otsego, Mich.; Charles Henke of Cozad; and Mrs. Lillian Moore of Stapleton.

Mr. Henke died on Dec. 5, 1928. After a period of illness, the health of Mrs. Henke continued to decline until her death on Friday morning, April 22, 1932, of pulmonary asthma. Funeral services were conducted at First Lutheran Church, the Rev. Fred C.Wiegman, pastor, officiating. Interment was at Scotia, beside her husband.

Surviving brothers and sisters of Mrs. Henke are: Mrs. Tina Killingsworth of Grant City, Mo.; Mrs. Francis Maudlin of Grant City; Mrs. Anna Ackley of Grant City; Mrs. Margaret Holopeter of Hill City, Kansas; William of Allendale, Mo.; Thomas of Texas; Roy of Allendale; Allen of Worth, Mo.; Frank of Washington; Peter of Grant City; and Robert of Oklahoma.

She also leaves 23 grand-children and a large number of distant relatives and friends.
