Sarah M. Combs Dead
Mrs. Sarah M. Combs died at the family home near Allendale Saturday, May 13th, the cause of her death being pneumonia.
The funeral services were conducted by Dr. J. E. White pastor of the Christian Church of Grant City Monday and interment made in the Kirk cemetery.
She was born June 19, 1842 near Clarksburg, W. Virginia, and came to Iowa in 1855. She was married in 1864 to Samuel P. Combs of Mt. Ayr Iowa and shortly afterward came to Missouri where she has since made her home. 12 children were born to this union, all of whom survive. Among the children are N. A. Combs of Grant City.

In 1838 the Armstrong family departed Clarksburg, Harrison County, Virginia now West Virginia, including eight children, to Clark County, Illinois, where five more children including Sarah were born. In 1855 the family moved to an 80 acre farm in Liberty Twp., Ringgold County, Iowa, eventually totaling 180 acres. Two sons would farm nearby.
Sarah is one of 13 children including three Civil War soldiers with two dying during the War.
