Alfred, son of Alexander and Rose Anna Cox, was born October 1, 1871 in the State of Kansas and departed this life at his home in Fayette, Ohio June 14, 1952. On October 9, 1897, he was united in marriage to Inez Vanarsdalen. Together they traveled life's pathway for nearly 55 years. To this union were born 9 children, five sons and four daughters. He was preceded in death by one son Theodore. He was the last survivor of a family of six children.
