Alberta Regina (Waseleski) Blauch, 87, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home. She was born on Monday, December 15, 1924 in Pittston, PA to the late Alexander and Anna Waseleski. She was predeceased by her loving husband John Clair Blauch in November 1966.
She graduated from Holy Rosary High School in Pittston before moving to Middletown Pennsylvania. She was employed at Olmstead Air Force Base where she worked as a riveter on aircrafts during World War II. She was one of the original "Rosie the Riveter" girls. It was there that she met John Clair Blauch whom she later married.
Alberta and John Clair Blauch made their home in Palmyra where they raised four children. Following John Clair's death, Alberta began working for Palmyra Public Schools where she was employed in the middle school cafeteria for over 30 years. She retired in 1993. Alberta was an active member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Palmyra where she served on a number of committees and was involved in many church activities. Alberta was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and dear friend George Cikovic before his passing in 2008.
Alberta was dearly loved by many friends and extended family members. She is survived by her son Bruce Blauch and wife Andrea of Palmyra, daughter Deborah Horney and husband Stephen of Waynesboro, Virginia, son Matthew Blauch and wife Donna of Columbia, Missouri, and son James and wife Joan of Ely, Minnesota. She is also survived by her grandchildren, David Blauch, Kristina Gibson, Stephanie Baitto, Jessica Shirley, Stephen Horne, Lauren Zettler, Melissa Blauch, Alexandra Blauch, Gavin Blauch and Claire Blauch and great grandchildren, Kyle Blauch, Kaityn Gibson, Teagan Baitto, Ethan Baitto, Anna Grace Shirley, Meleah Shirley, Abigail Horne, Aiden Zettler and Ryan Zettler, and her brother John Waseleski of Michigan and sister Wanda Rincavage of Pittston in addition to numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers Felix and Max and three sisters Helen, Mary, and Stella.
Family and friends are invited for viewing on Friday, June 15th from 6 to 8 PM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 16th at 10 AM at Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 West Pine Street, Palmyra with Father James F. Podlesny as celebrant. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Church of the Holy Spirit.
