Charles was born on October 4, 1919 to Milton and Zola (Beckett) Yates in Elwood, IN.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. Charles married the Edna H. (Paskell) Yates on January 17, 1942 and she survives.
Charlie had been employed at Dietzen Bread and was a milkman for the City Creamery. In 1985 he retired from Sun Metal Products of Warsaw.
Charlie was a member of the Quincy Masonic Lodge # 230, past Master of Mentone Lodge #576, and was a past Commander of D.A.V. Chapter 50 at Warsaw.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Edna Yates of New Lebanon, OH , Daughter - Susan Cloar of Dayton, OH; Grandson - Stephen Preston and several nieces & nephews
He was preceded in death by Father, Milton B. Yates, Mother, Zola E. Yates, Brothers, Harold & Floyd Yates, Sister, Mary Horner.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011, 2:00 PM at the Elwood City Cemetery with Rev. Jess Horner, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery.
