William G. "Dutch" Borders, 85, a life long Rush County resident, passed away Friday evening, June 8 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

He was born on August 26, 1926 in Rushville to John W. & Ethel (Piles) Borders.

Dutch was a T/5 in the US Army serving during the end of WW II. He married Barbara Crapo on March 24, 1950. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2000.

Dutch farmed many years and he also was an implement mechanic with Lemmens, JE Dean and John Deere for many years. He was a member of the Rushville Eagles Lodge, the American Legion Post #150 and the Rush County Tractor Pullers Association. He enjoyed watching Nascar racing.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda & husband Rick Bane of Seymour, IN, sons, Mike Borders & Barb Reynolds and Steve & wife Paula Borders, all of Rushville, a brother, Glenn & wife Mildred Borders of Warsaw, IN, sisters, Betty Cadwallader of Muncie and June Wayt of Rushville, grandchildren, Valerie & husband Joe Findlay, Bill & wife Sara Bane, Brianne & husband Nick Riedman and Jordan Borders and great grandchildren, Lauren Findlay and Luke & Jude Bane.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dutch was preceded in death by a brother, Harrell "Ham" and sisters, Mae, Mary and Maxine.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, June 12 in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Pastor Mick Saunders will preside. Friends are welcome to visit from 4 until 8 PM on Monday, June 11 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung or Cancer Associations.
