Glenn was born to John & Ethel (Piles) Borders on August 30, 1920 in Rushville, IN. He farmed on the Joe Alexander farm for a few years before entering the US Navy in 1942. He served aboard the USS Terror during WW II when it was struck by Japanese Forces on May 1, 1944. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
Glenn was a member of the Rushville Church of God where he helped in the construction of the church. He operated many gas stations in the Rushville area and also drove a semi for Perkins Furniture Transport for 14 years. After he retired, Glenn worked for Willowood Apartments and later for Public Storage.
In 2002, he & Mildred moved to the Warsaw area where they lived for 12 years.
Glenn's greatest love was for his 6 children, 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren & 2 great-great grandchildren. His surviving children are Jackie Cook of Warsaw, Lois Patmore of Warsaw, Bobby Borders of Birmingham, AL, Maurice Borders of San Diego, CA and Fred Borders of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Cadwalder of New Salem & June Wayt of Rushville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, of 72 years, a daughter, Bonnie Lou Thomaston (2/13/09), his parents, brothers, Harrell & William "Dutch" Borders and sisters, Mary Sailor, Maxine Mitchel & Mae Ball.
Services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 11 AM until time of service on Thursday.
Burial will be in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
The Rush County Veteran's Honor Guard will provide military honors at the mortuary.
