Mrs. Sarah Derrick,
widow of George W. Derrick, died at Everett, Bedford county, Pa., on the 4th inst., of heart trouble. She was in her 71st year. Her husband died in this place, in November, 1872, and the body of his wife arrived here on Main Line Express at 2.24 yesterday afternoon, in charge of her sons, George William and John, and daughter, Miss Laura. A number of friends were at the station to meet them and by their request the casket was opened and they permitted to look upon the face of their relative for the last time. The body was then taken to the Newport cemetery for burial alongside the deceased lady's late husband. Mr. Derrick and family lived where Alvin Jones now lives, the latter's father having bought the property from Mr. Derrick. Mrs. Derrick was proprietor of the Eagle Hotel, Bloomfield, prior to her removal to Everett about 9 years ago. Her maiden name was Burd and she was born near Mansville. Her only other surviving child not already mentioned is Thomas, who resides in the west. George William is ticket agent at Everett and John is a printer at Pittsburgh. Miss Laura resided with her mother. Her surviving brothers and sisters are John, William and George Burd, of Center township; Levi, in the west; Reuben, of Neffsville, Lancaster county, Pa.; Mrs. James McIlhenny, of Bloomfield; Mrs. Thomas Record, of Harrisburg; Mrs. E. D. Bupp and Mrs. George Bistline, of Center township.
