James I. Cline is Claimed by Death
James Isaac Cline, 87 passed away yesterday afternoon at 1:25 o'clock at his home in City View. He had been in ill health for the past four months and his condition had been critical for the past week.
He was born in Forsyth county June 12 1866, a son of the late Eli and Jane Davenport Cline. He moved to his present home thirty years ago. He was well known in the City View section.
Surviving are the widow: two sons Hiliary and William G Cline, both of City View; three daughters, Mrs. Robert G Goings of Mount Airy, Mrs. Matthew Palmer and Mrs. E. June Davidson of City View; eleven grandchildren and six brothers; Louis, Pleas, Earl, Jonas, Gus and Richard Cline all of Forsyth county.
The funeral will be held at the home this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Rev. John Knott, Rev. T.M. Reece and Rev. W.M. Crouse will conduct the service. Burial will follow, in Lewisville Methodist Church Graveyard.
Pallbearers will be Luther Peoples, Ray Nichola, Coy Crouse, Jake Wall, Albert Folds and Albert Mayberry.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note:
There are those that think that Jane was his step mother and that Nancy Shelton is his mother. We have conflicting dates for Nancy's death and Eli and Jane's marriage. So hard to say, doesn't really matter, I suppose.
June 21, 1891 he was united in marriage with Permelia F. Caudle who also went by Melia or Amelia. To this union they had 5 known children who are typed out on their mother's memorial.
