Ernest N. Maddox was born Febr. 10 1872, at Nashville Tennessee, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. L. Andersen of Scotia, April 24, 1920, being at the time of his death 48, 2 months and 14 days old.
He came with his parents from Nashville, Tennessee in the year 1883, where he lived the greater part of his life. He was for a number of years a resident of Cotesfield. He was united in marriage to Miss Ella Jacobs of Elbe, March 18th, 1895. To this union eight children were born, one of whom died in infancy. Those left to mourn his loss are: Paul G. of Scotia, Mrs. Gladys Ann Thresher, of Big Springs, Terril R., of North Loup, Mrs. Allura R. Anderson of Scotia, Fay Vera, Bernice Elsie and Evelyn Mildred. Besides the children he leaves a loving wife, and an aged father living in Marceline, Mo., who came to attend his funeral. Also four sisters and three brothers. One sister Mrs. O. C. Reams, of Cotesfield, besides a number of relatives at St Paul and host of friends a host of friends are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father, a friend to all who knew him. He lies at rest in the Mount Hope cemetery at Scotia.
