Katharina (Bodamer) Baelder (later spelled Belter) was born in Beresina, Akkerman, Bessarabia, Odessa, S. Russia, to Gottlieb and Justina Anna (Nill) Bodamer, the third of four girls. She was married to Johann Baelder Feb 6, 1876 in Kloestitz, Akkerman, Bessarabia, S. Russia, and came to the USA together, with their three oldest children, in 1885. They settled in North Dakota, but moved to Oklahoma in 1896.
To this union were born nine children: Anna Maria, Martin J., Christina, Ottilie, Gottfried H., Elizabeth, Fredricka "Rachel", Magdalena and John.
Katharina is survived by her husband, Johann "John"; eight of her children; a sister, Anna Elizabeth, and one grandchild, Raymond R. Payne.
Preceding her in death are her parents; one daughter, Magdalena; three grandchildren: Scott W. Payne, Edna Roark and Henry Leslie Roark; a son-in-law, William Bertram Payne; and two sisters: Christina and Helene.
Katharina had a very difficult life, but now rests in peace.
