Mr. George was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Damascus to the late Grady Isaiah George and Bessie Mae Whalen George. He was a retired accountant with Georgia State University in Atlanta and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Graham Deyo George; three brothers, Marion Bluford George, Dr. Whalen George and Grady Isaiah "Bubber" George Jr.; and two sisters, Alice George Faulk and Mary Teresa George.
Survivors include three daughters, Katherine Garman and husband Russ of McDonough, Ga., Mary Odom of Leesburg, Ga., and Elizabeth Cooper and husband Stephen of Hahira, Ga.; a sister, Regina G. Bentley of Dothan, Ala.; a brother, Jack George and wife Janet of Davis, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday, April 9, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the George Cemetery with Rev. Walter Flint officiating.
Pallbearers were Jim Burrell, Doug George, Scott Terrell, Ronnie Everson, Lee George and Bill George.
