Funeral services for Thomas Rudy Barr, 77, Mannsville, were at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 28, at the Mt. Zion Church of God in Adair County, Route 1, Casey Creek. Brother William Stayton and the Rev. Arthur Jones officiated. Burial was in the Barr family cemetery in the Mt. Zion community, where he formerly lived. Mr. Barr died at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, November 26 [1957] at Rosary Hospital here of a congestive heart condition suffered 3 days prior to death. He was born in Ash County, NC, May 30, 1880. He had lived in the Mannsville section 30 years. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Green Barr, whom he married January 5, 1922; a daughter, Mrs. Herman Adams, Louisville; a son, Thomas R. Barr Jr., Route 1, Casey Creek; 2 sisters, Mrs. Dora Eastridge, Route 1, Casey Creek and Mrs. Bertha Holcomb, Route 1, Knifley, and 3 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Morris Russell, Cosby Bohanon, Dewey Jones, Bob Grooms, Clyde Cox and Bruce Dabney.
